About Uttar Pradesh

Agra, Varanasi, Lucknow, Ayodhya

Uttar Pradesh holds some of the most visited sites in India. Agra has the Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri, three UNESCO World Heritage sites within an hour of one another.

Varanasi, on the Ganga, is one of the oldest living cities in the world: dawn boat rides past the ghats, the evening aarti at Dashashwamedh, and Sarnath, where the Buddha preached his first sermon, just outside the city.

Ayodhya, birthplace of Lord Ram, now draws pilgrims to the Ram Mandir, while Lucknow is the city of the nawabs, of Awadhi cuisine and the Bara Imambara. Prayagraj, at the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna, hosts the Kumbh Mela.
