About Goa

North Goa, South Goa

Goa is India’s beach holiday, with more than a hundred kilometres of coastline on the Arabian Sea and a culture shaped by four and a half centuries of Portuguese rule.

North Goa is lively: Calangute, Baga, Anjuna and Vagator, with their shacks, night markets and Fort Aguada. South Goa is quieter, with long clean beaches at Colva, Benaulim and Palolem and resorts set back among the palms.

Inland, the churches and convents of Old Goa, among them the Basilica of Bom Jesus, are a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Latin quarter of Fontainhas in Panaji keeps its coloured Portuguese houses. Spice plantations and the Dudhsagar falls make good days away from the sea.
