About Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Araku

Andhra Pradesh is best known for Tirumala, the hill shrine of Sri Venkateswara above Tirupati and one of the most visited places of worship in the world. Pilgrimage packages turn on darshan tickets, which are released by the temple trust in advance.

On the Bay of Bengal, Visakhapatnam combines city beaches, the submarine museum on RK Beach and the Kailasagiri hilltop park. A train ride inland through tunnels and gorges reaches the Araku valley, with coffee plantations, tribal villages and the Borra caves.

Srisailam, one of the twelve jyotirlingas, and the Buddhist sites at Amaravati and Nagarjunakonda add to a longer circuit.
